i wrote this one last year, but i think it still counts
As a self-confessed shopaholic, just coming back from 6 months abroad, i have no money left. I spent all my money there (obviously) and I didn’t have a job to come back to so there’s no money coming in. this inadvertently meant not going on vacation so now I’ve got all this time to kill until summer is over. Normally that wouldn’t be a problem. But, considering everyone else is going to warm exiting holidays, I have no money to spend to do a lot of fun things and go see places and usually my favorite thing to do would be shopping, it’s a bit harder than it sounds at first… So this is what I’m trying to overcome!
How to have a great summer with almost nothing to spend. (Or, my list for the summer anyway)
- Plunder your parent’s food storage and make a delicious 3 course diner.
- Finally finish all the little touch-ups you still had to do at home.
- Make an appointment with the dentist - you know it’s been a while.
- Grab a rug, some wine, fruit and a good book and just relax in the sun - you can do this almost every day, you won’t get bored!
- Call up a friend who owns a boat and go sailing for the day
- Take the touristy route in your home town – there’s plenty of stuff you haven’t taken the time to see yet just because you live so close.
- Offer to watch a friends pet when they’re away – it’s amazingly fascinating to have a new creature in your house to look at and observe and play with!
- Bake that three-layered-chocolate-fudge-brownie-cake with marshmallow-peanut-chocolate topping that you’ve been dying to try!
- Invite your musician friends over for some beer and listen to a nice little jamming session in your living room.
- Borrow your dad’s old-school (but still pretty good) camera and take some pretty shots.
- Finish at least 2 books that have been sitting on your shelve for ages.
- Take the bike to every job-agency and get on looking for a job. If not for the summer, than definitely for when uni starts again.
- Start a new creative project and tell people about it so they’ll start asking you about it and you can’t just be lazy and not-do it.
- Meet up with those long lost friends you haven’t seen for ages.
- Have a film-marathon.
- Take your someone special, some wine and a blanket, go to a nice quiet spot to see the sunset, watch the stars, and see the sun rise again. Then get a nice breakfast together.
- Take a biking-vacation to a nice camping spot and stay there for a few days.
- Visit your friends who are on an inland vacation and say hi J
- Check what kind of art exhibitions and outdoor festivals are in the area.
